Progressive Guitar Studio

About the Teacher

David Kessler began playing the guitar at 9 years old where he studied music theory at the Royal Conservatory of music and the classical guitar with Ron Ayre in Regina Saskatchewan.

At the age of 14 his parents bought him an electric guitar and David spent his teens mastering rock and blues guitar. By his twenty's David was touring western Canada playing in various bands opening for such acts as Trooper, the Headpins, Colin James, Dr John and others.

Later David completed the Commercial Music Program at Capilano University where he  studied jazz, improvisation, music theory, ear training, and more, and he was quite honoured to be asked to record with the very talented faculty there.

Soon after, David was hired by Tom Lee Music in Coquitlam where he worked for 11 years providing private and group lessons for beginner and advanced students of all ages. Then in 2006 David opened his own school 'Progressive Guitar Studio'.

David has over 20 years experience as a professional music teacher, studio musician, and performer, and enjoys sharing his love of music with others.
